U Fandy: Czech pub reality – the way it used to be

I bet that this rather unattractive-looking pub would be bypassed if you went around. Well, no wonder. But the fact is that you would make a major mistake and lose the chance of getting fundamental knowledge needed to understand the soul of a Czech person since if you get some courage and pay a visit to this godforsaken and perhaps damned operation, you can experience the reality of the Czech pub culture firsthand.

Now that you have a quite nice & cool room, you catch a creative cook, tie him to the kitchen stove, put a couple of mixed nice bartenders and food & coffee experts behind the bar, and you have a recipe for a great cafe restaurant.

Zahrada Ztracenka: throw your cell phone into the sewer and your troubles away

U Jelínků: no fussing and quarrelling with personnel – just stay happy to sit down, twiddle your thumbs and drink beer

An ideal beer saloon materialized

If we seek to define and materialize the notion of “beer saloon”, I daresay that the pub U Jelínků could serve as the best example. It has all the attributes that one would expect from such a spot. Smoky settings of poor aesthetic value, shabby tables occupied by ever-thirsty regulars, a very limited choice of drinks and food and starchy staff. However, it is necessary to mention the most important thing – that is, they tap your pils like nowhere else.
