This international center for contemporary art founded in 2001 by artist David Černý is part of a special industrial building. A former glass-making factory built in the 1920s, after World War II it served for manufacturing diesel engines of Škoda Pilsen. In the 1990s it was abandoned once for all. The aim of founding this center was and still is pulling the town onto the world stage of contemporary art while seeking to provide an independent cultural area that offers space, even to novice artists. Residential stays for foreign creators and exchange schemes for Czech and foreign artists form an important part of the whole concept. MeetFactory provides large premises for musical shows, a gallery, and 15 studios. The dramaturgy is varied and includes theatrical and various other performances in addition to vernissages, exhibitions, and concerts.
